Poverty - The curse of Society

Poverty leads Beggary

 

Poverty is a serious curse to the society. There are mainly two types of proverty found in the world-

1.Absolute poverty-  It means who are really under the poverty line

2.Relative poverty – It indicates those countries that are poor in compared to developed country.

There are 120 Cr. People who are under poverty measures. Mainly in developing countries like India, Africa it is a leading problem. Poverty is effect of unemployment which may be an effect of growing population. Poverty causes urban beggary and it also leads to rapid criminal rate. World bank established two parameter to measures poverty those are-

Those who earn less than 1.25 US $ per day, suffer from extreme poverty

Those who earn less than 2 US $ per day, are referred as poor

Poverty of India measures by many committee in many ways like-

Lakdawala Committee- This committee measure it by how much calories consume by individual a day . in rural area must get 2400 calories and in urban area must get 2100 calories per day

Tendulkar Committee – This committee placed its report on july,2009 on basis of consumption of calories along with measures of basic condition of  health, education and stander of living

NC Saxena Committee- This committee measures the number of BPL (Below Poverty Level) of urbun area and submit their report on August, 2009 which shows 50% people of the total population is under Poverty line

SR Hashim Committee- This committee counted the family who have these three or four items that are refrigerator, motorised two-wheelers, land line or washing machine should not be treated as poor.

Rangarajan Committee on poverty- this committee reported on 6th July,2012 and this report observe that the rate of below poverty line decreased from 38.2% in 2009-10 to 29.5% in 2911-12

Famous Noble Laureate economist professor Amartya sen give his theory on poverty.

Sen index of Poverty- S=H[I+(1-I)G}

Where,

S= Sen Index of poverty

H= Head count index

I=poverty gap index

G= gini co-efficient

Government develop many Schemes and yojona to remove this curse from the society permanently.
